    Sites and Townships Specific To This Map Are: Concepcion.

    The following towns are featured: a map in pen and ink with watercolor of the Bay of Conception. It is based on an original prepared by Jorge Juan and Antonio de Ulloa in 1744 during one of its South America expeditions. Extensive additions and revisions were made in the early 1780s. It shows the location of the ancient city of Concepci?n and its new location far from the sea after the city was rebuilt after the devastating 1751 earthquake. The map is oriented with north at the bottom left. The latitude and longitude are set in relation to the Royal Astronomical Observatory in Tenerife in the Canary Islands. The map shows the relief through shading and depth of water by soundings.
