The following towns are featured: written entirely in German. The title of the map refers to the Compromise of 1850 boundary in the northwest, which was adjusted in Washington in September of 1850 and confirmed by the Texas Legislature in November 1850. The purpose of the map was to show the location of the Verein's grant, and prominently displayed among the hachures representing the Edwards Plateau, which was the Grant District of the Texas Society The route from the port of Indianola to the German settlements is highlighted, and the western portion of the grant was shown as not yet surveyed. The Colorado River is shown on this map with its supposed source far to the south, near the Rio Grande. since the river's source was actually to the northwest, not far from present Lubbock, the southern boundary stipulated by the grant
